Violence
Statistics show that 10.2% of Female Juvenile arrest made between 1996 and 2005 were due to violent crimes. Studies shows that violence amongst girls occur for the following reasons:
o Peer Violence: Girls fights with peers to gain status, defend sexual reputation, and defend against harassment. o Family Violence: Girls fight more frequently at home with their parents than boys do. o Violence in School: Often in defense or out of hopelessness o Violence within disadvantaged neighborhoods: Violent neighborhoods put girls at a higher risk of victimization. o Girls in gangs: There are numerous factors that account for girls in gangs including attitudes toward school and peers.
